Cornell CIS won two of five awards (from 23 submissions) given by Cornell's Discovery and Innovation Research Seed Grant program. This initiative's objective was to identify and support "a limited number of top rank projects that showed a strong possibility of being able to lead to future external funding after successful proof of concept work enabled by the internal funding".
The two projects were:
"Transforming online group communication and collaboration": Claire Cardie, Cristian Danescu-Niculescu-Mizil, and Lillian Lee.
"Towards a New Robotic Manipulation Formalism for the Real World": Ross Knepper.
