Lectures & LabsLecturesYou are expected to attend lecture twice each week. However, the 9:05 and 11:15 lectures are identical and you are permitted to attend either of them.
Discussion Sections (Labs)Discussion sections (Labs) are mandatory. If you miss more than two of them without a good excuse (preferably discussed with your section instructor ahead of time), your course grade may be reduced one level (e.g. B to B- or A- to B+). To keep the staff/student ratios where they need to be, you can only attend the lab section you are registered for. For sections held in the ACCEL LAB in Carpenter Hall: The entrance to the ACCEL Lab is through the former Engineering Library. Upon entering from the ground floor, walk straight until you can go no further. The Blue room is in front of you; the Red and Orange rooms are up the stairs on your left (past the Green room, where consulting hours are). Labs listed as the "Red" room on Student Center are actually split among the "Red" and "Orange" rooms, which are adjacent. As part of the lab, you will be given an assignment to do, usually on a computer, that will be checked off by the section instructor. The goal is to give you every opportunity to become fluent in the use of Python and to help you learn important concepts within a week of their introduction. If you have your own laptop, you are encouraged to bring that to lab to work on.
