Worlds for Internet Technology and Science (WITS)
Cornell University is leading a Demonstration Project for Broadening Participation in Computing exploring an innovative approach to attracting women and underrepresented minorities to computing fields. This NSF-funded project, BPC-DP: Worlds for Information Technology and Science (WITS) has four key components:
- CYFair, an associated service-outreach program that brings college students into middle school mentorship roles.
- A service learning curriculum that incorporates CYFair as its lab component. This curriculum, developed at Cornell, will be taught for undergraduates and non-traditional students at Boston College.
- Four university Trial Sites, including Cornell, to ensure scalability and adaptability of the program developed.
- Research into the efficacy of our approach.
