version of assignment 6 can now be downloaded using the course management
system. The deadline for the assignment has been extended till 11:59pm on

assignments
are in a state of continuous development, and unfortunate incidents like
this happen every once in a while. See also the course newsgroup for a
related posting.
- 2 Dec 2002: The deadline for
assignment 6 has been extended till 11:59pm on December 7, so that you have

database transaction processing, and he was the principal inventor of the
ARIES family of recovery algorithms (which you will be implementing for
assignment 6). He will be talking about application-level caching, which is
relevant to the material taught in CS432 and CS433. All of you are
encouraged to attend his talk.
- Assignment 5 has been
posted.
- The test cases for assignment 3 can now be downloaded using the course
management system (click on solutions). Please run the test cases before
requesting a regrade.

will be helpful if you bring your copy of the mid-term exam to class.
- If you have regrade requests for midterm exam, please see Professor
Shanmugasundaram either between 3:30-4:30pm on October 28, or between
11am-12noon on November 1. If neither of these times work for you, please
send email to set up an appointment. The deadline for submitting regrade
requests for the mid-term exam is November 1.
- If you have not yet picked up your mid-term exam, please see Andrea
Cleveland (4105 Upson) between 3pm-4pm Monday-Friday.
- 19 Oct 2002: Please bring a calculator
for the midterm exam. Some of the questions will require you to perform
relatively complex calculations. Good luck with your preparation!

off the course schedule.
- 30 Aug 2002: If you have not yet
turned in the academic integrity form, you need to do so during the next
class (on 2 Sep 2002). Otherwise, you will be unable to download the first
assignment.
- 28 Aug 2002: Welcome to CS432! There are two
important things that you need to do right away. First, you need to
complete the academic integrity form and hand it to the instructor after
class; you will not be able to access the course management software system
(for assignments, grades) if you do not hand in this form. Second, you need
to familiarize yourself with the course policies.
Contact the instructor or TAs if you have any questions or concerns.
