Benefit: Image Sequence (size=227x125x30) is reduced to a trajectory in eigenspace (3x30). Much more efficient computing.
Benefit: The EST Finds the variables of maximum variance.
Drawback: We do not know what these variables are. They may be measuring something that varies widely but might not necessarily be a useful discrimination feature.
