Historical Binomial Visualizer

This visualizer allows you to explore the historical oridinality of binomials. A binomial is two words separated by an 'and' that can be said in either direction. A binomial's ordinality is simply the percentage of uses in a given time frame that are in alphabetical order (e.x. "left and right"). The ordering of a binomial can tell you a lot about the language (or the speaker!).

Directions:

For each binomial, enter the binomial as two words separated by a space. Separate binomials with just a comma. Binomials will be transformed to alphabetical order. Note that no non-alphanumeric characters appear in this dataset. If a binomial is not present in the dataset, it will be excluded. This datset is a partial amount of the full datset used in the analysis for demonstration purposes.

This website usually takes about 30 seconds to load the dataset. Thank you for your patience!
