About Me:

I am a PhD student in the Computer Science Department at Cornell University, working with Ramin Zabih. My main interests are in optimization, particularly Boolean optimization for Computer Vision.

Recent Publications:

Duality and the Continuous Graphical Model, Alexander Fix and Sameer Agarwal. In: European Conference on Computer Vision (ECCV) 2014. (CVPR) 2014.

A Primal-Dual Algorithm for Higher-Order Multilabel Markov Random Fields, Alexander Fix, Chen Wang and Ramin Zabih. In: Conference on Computer Vision and Pattern Recognition (CVPR) 2014. Supplementary Material.

Structured learning of sum-of-submodular higher order energy functions, Alexander Fix, Thorsten Joachims, Sung Min Park and Ramin Zabih. In: International Conference on Computer Vision (ICCV) 2013.

Approximate MRF Inference Using Bounded Treewidth Subgraphs, Alexander Fix, Joyce Chen, Endre Boros and Ramin Zabih. In: European Conference on Computer Vision (ECCV) 2012.

A Graph Cut Algorithm for Higher-order Markov Random Fields, Alexander Fix, Artinan Gruber, Endre Boros and Ramin Zabih. In: International Conference on Computer Vision (ICCV) 2011.

Software:

SoSPD: a C++ implementation of the Sum-of-Submodular Primal Dual algorithm (SoSPD) as described in our CVPR 2014 paper.

S3SVM. Structured learning for sum-of-submodular functions. Also includes an implementation of our Submodular IBFS algorithm (a fast flow algorithm for sum-of-submodular optimization).

Higher order energy reduction. An implementation (in C++) of the reduction described in our ICCV 2011 paper. Also includes an implementation of fusion move for general higher-order energy.
