Starting the Course Newsgroup Application

• Make sure a path has been set to the location of the JAVA 1.2 binary files (Version 1.2 Beta3). JAVA1.2 can be downloaded from http://java.sun.com
• Set the CLASSPATH to the location of the JAVA classes of this application. For example, if the JAVA classes are located in C:\CourseNewsgroup ,then use the command : "SET CLASSPATH=C:\CourseNewsgroup"
• On the prompt type "java newsgroupFrame" and press Enter

This pops up a login screen. The list of users who have access to the newsgroup can be modified by the administrators of the newsgroup. The administrators can add / remove users as and when required.

The login process verifies authenticity of the user, and appropriately denies / approves access to the newsgroup. The login process also automatically recognizes whether the user logging-in has administrative previliges.
