Project Context

Malte Jung directs the Robots in Groups Lab which investigates how teamwork is affected by robots and AI. Most of our current studies are performed in the laboratory which limits the number of participants we can enroll. Therefore, as part of our research we are interested in building novel online research tools that allow us to collect larger datasets to investigate how people collaborate with robots and intelligent agents.

Project Summary

The goal of this project is to create an interactive online Tetris game that involves two users playing Tetris collaboratively with an artificial agent. Users will log onto a website and will be paired with another user to collaboratively play a Tetris game with an artificial agent. Once completed, users will be given performance feedback and asked to respond to a short set of survey questions.

The project involves three parts:

  1. Develop a web based Tetris application that allows two users to take turns at controlling blocks.
  2. Integrate the game into an existing platform that allows the synchronization of online participants.
  3. Develop and implement a workflow that introduces participants to the game, engages them in the game, and collects survey responses.
