Project

The client writes:

StreamSpec is an early stage Tech startup located in NYC. In November of 2010 we launched our first product HoverSpec at the ADTECH convention in NYC. Our product displays content and advertisements directly related to what or who is in a photograph on a web page. All of the advertisements in the HoverSpec platform are strictly user initiated creating an interactive experience for the users. For example if there is a photograph of Lebron James on ESPN.com, we could display his latest Nike shoe commercial after the user mouses over the photograph.

Redevelopment/Redesign of the HoverSpec Platform:

The purpose of the project is to redevelop and redesign the HoverSpec platform. This would include rebuilding the advertiser and publisher dashboards as well as the admin system. Along with these developments we'd like to update how our advertisements are delivered on our partner’s websites. We pride ourselves in deploying cool advertisements that entice users to interact with the ads or content delivered to them. If time allows the project will also include implementing our CrowdSpec system.

This project will involve coding in PHP, Javascript, JQuery, Html, CSS and the framework will be decided after discussion with students. There will be a great deal of collaborating between the client and students. Students from all areas will have fun with this project. There will be a good mix of coding, UX design, algorithms, and testing. To speed up the development of the advertising system we are looking to utilize an open source advertising platform to help with managing and deploying advertisements.

If all goes well, students may be offered a chance to join the startup.
