Project

Advanced Transit Manufacturing Advanced Transit Manufacturing is a wire harness and electro-mechanical assembly manufacturer that services mass transit, aerospace, and other industries. They are a ISO 9001:2008 certified contract manufacturing company that builds sub components from print to production.

To achieve superior quality consistently they create detailed work instructions for every step to build an assembly. In addition, critical steps necessary for the production of each assembly are outlined on a "traveler". This "traveler" is basically a single page document that must be signed upon the completion of each critical step. Currently, the work instructions are on printed sheets of paper that are re-printed whenever changes are made. Additionally, the traveler is re-printed each time an assembly is built. The client is looking to improve their quality by moving the work instructions from paper form to an electronic form using a tablet, like an iPad or an Android. Also, the client would like to integrate the traveler process into the work instruction, whereby the sign off's of production staff members will be captured on the tablet device and made available to a database application.

The client also wants to make the work instructions more interactive and contain more elements than just printed instructions (such as videos, pictures, etc.).

More details of this project will be given in class.
