Fall 2000
Monday 3:35-4:25, 205 Upson

Course Overview
CS415 is a course that covers the practical aspects of operating systems design. The course offerred this fall comprises 4 projects. These projects will test the overall understanding of the student in basic operating system concepts like concurrent programming, disk scheduling, file systems, memory management and security mechanisms. For a better understanding of the projects, it is recommended that the student take CS414 this fall. The pre-requisite for this course is CS414 or an equivalent course from any other university. CS415 can only be taken for credit!! For further questions contact the instructor.

The projects have to be done either individually or in groups of 2(which is recommended). If a group has 2 members, then except in special cases(that is on the discretion of the instructor), both the group members will share the grade. The groups that you form initially are not permanent. You could change your group for the next assignment. Under no circumstances will a deadline extension request be entertained. As a policy for this course, late submissions could be made, with a penalty of 10% of the project grade for each day after the deadline. A late submission will be accepted only if it is made within a week after the deadline.
