CS 414/415 Announcements
- May 6: Jornadas and tablets need to be returned Monday (from 11 am to 1 p.m. and from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.) and Tuesday (from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.) to Adi's office (Upson 5152).
- May 5: Every group MUST sign up and do a demo for Project 6 on May 7 or May 8. The sign-up sheet is available at Upson 4119.
- May 5: Project 5 grades and comments are posted on CMS. The grading guide can be found here.
- April 29: For Project 6 you MUST submit everything (Makefiles, test files, sources, etc).
- April 29: Minor bug fixed in disk.h for the File System project. Please update your copy from here.
- April 24: The deadline for Project 6 is May 7, 1am. Demos will be made May 7, between 10 am and 2 pm only for groups that will implement optional problems (not the File System project). A sign-up sheet for demos will be available at Upson 4119 next week.
- April 24: A FAQ for The File System Project is posted in CMS. Please check it for updates.
- April 22: No section today.
- April 16: Grades for project 4 have been posted.
- April 15: The deadline to sign up for an optional problem for Project 6 is Friday, April 18, at 5pm.
- April 14: There will be a section tomorrow, Tuesday April 15, for Project 6.
- The makeup prelim has been postponed to Wednesday, April 16th, due to requests from students who are concurrently working on project 5.
- April 13: THe review session is in Upson B17 at 5pm on Sunday.
- Demo sessions will have two parts:1)Running a demo on desktops using a virtual topology (at least 3 machines);2) Running a demo on Jornada systems (at least 3 machines). Do not forget to add a DEBUG option which will be used to list the packets received and sent by the routing layer. I will use this option to see how your code work.
- April 11: You can find numbers assigned to groups used in ad-hoc networks in Group numbers for ad-hoc networks. A new folder for Project 5 was loaded. Now network.[ch] have functions to convert an integer from host-byte order to net-byte order.
- April 4: In Project 5 you don't have to use flooding to send route reply packets.
- April 3: Project 5 demo will be Tuesday April 15 6pm-9pm and Wednesday APril 16 6pm-9pm. The demo will be between desktops on CSUG lab and between Jornadas/Tablet
- April 1: Project 5 is due Monday April 14 at 12 pm
- April 1: You can pick a software tablet per group from Adi's office (Upson 5152)
- March 31: There will be a section tomorrow Tuesday, April 1 for Project 5
- March 29: Minor bugs fixed in conn-network4.c (line 52) and conn-network5.c (line 120). Update your copies from here.
- March 18: Homework 5 is posted. Due on March 31 at noon.
- March 14: Niranjan won't have office hours as he will be out of town.
- March 13: Project 4 now due on March 31.
- March 12: Homework 4 is due.
- March 12: The midterm is going to be held in class. It is closed-book.
- March 11: There will be a review session during the regular section hours.
- March 7: Project 2 grades are now available on CMS. Projects can be picked up from Bill in UP4119.
- March 5: Homework 4 is posted on CMS. It's big, so start early.
- March 5: A FAQ for project 4 has been posted. Please look out for updates to it. Now it has a description about the receiver-side implementation
- March 2: There will be a section Tuesday, March 4, for Project 4 which is due Monday, March 24 at 12 pm
- March 2: I wrote instructions about how you can set up your desktop to compile your code for Jornada in Tips for running programs on Jornada link. Project 3 will not be tested on Jornada in the grading process
- Feb 28: network*.c and preemptester.c files were changed from Zip file of the project 3 (network*.c use minithread_destroy instead of free and preemptester.c has a comment)
- Feb 27: A new Zip File is included for Project 3. Only the file interrupts.c is changed to allow programs to run on Jornada system. Tips for running programs on Jornada has been posted
- Feb 26: A new Zip File is included for Project 3. It has small changes to defs.h and network.c to allow you to run and compile programs on Jornada
- Feb 25: An FAQ for project 3 has been posted. Please look out for updates to it.
- Feb 24: Groups with only one Jornada can take another one from Adi's office.
- Feb 24: Project 1 has been graded. Grades are available through CMS. You can take your graded code files (each group has a single copy) from Jan (4119) every day from 1pm to 3pm.
- Feb 23: There will be no section Tuesday, Feb 24
- Feb 23: new Jornada systems are available for groups that have already taken another one. There are not Jornada systems for all groups. Groups will be served based on FCFS policy. Jornada systems must be picked up by students that did not take the first Jornada system (did not sign the check-out form). You can come Monday after 1pm. I will not be in the office between 3:20 - 4:40 pm.
- Feb 23: You can download the network1.c program in which a thread sends and receives the same message from this page at the Project section
- Feb 18: Jornada systems are available at Adi's office (Upson 5152). You can stop by today until 10 pm, Wednesday from 1pm-3pm and Thursday afternoon.
- Feb 18: A new .ZIP file for Project 3 is available on CSM. It includes several changes to makefiles

- Feb 13: Project 2: Use RR on each level of the multilevel queue scheduler
- Feb 11: A new .ZIP file for Project 2 is available on CSM. It includes a Depend file used to build your project faster
- Feb 10: There will be a section on Tuesday, February 11, on Project 2.

- Jan 29: The project 1 description and zip file have been updated with information on
how to make the project work with Visual Studio .NET.
- Jan 28: There will be a section on Tuesday, Jan 28, on C for Java Programmers.
