Grading:

If you decide to take the OPTIONAL final exam, the grading is as it was stated in the first classnotes. Namely:

• Assignments 25% of grade

• First Prelim 25% of grade

• Second Prelim 25% of grade

• Final Exam 25% of grade

• Potential pop quizzes and class participation may carry 5% of grade for extra credit

If you decide NOT to take the final exam, here is how I will probably compute the final grade

Take the Maximum of

• Assignments 33% of grade • Assignments 25% of grade

• First Prelim 33% of grade • First Prelim 35% of grade

• Second Prelim 33% of grade • Second Prelim 40% of grade

The prelim is on Nov 30; we will compute the final grades by Dec 5 as if you were not taking the final exam. Then we will send you e-mail with your grade. If you take the final, you revert to the initial (top of page) grading.
