Finding a Shell for Class
In order to complete assignments and other coursework in CS2043, you will need access to a Unix or Linux based system running a common shell. This semester, I will recommend the following for each platform you may have access to:
- macOS users: Install an updated version of the bash shell and use your Terminal application for class
- Windows users: Install WSL (Windows Subsystem for Linux) and obtain a Ubuntu Linux install to use for class
- Linux users: Use your existing machine's Terminal application for class
- Everyone: Utilize the computer science department's UGCLINUX system
More information on these options including detailed information on how to obtain/install (where applicable) will be posted on this page before our first lecture!
