CodeWarrior Pro 5 Mac Installation
0) Remove any previous version(s) of CodeWarrior:
-
Delete any old CodeWarrior folder(s)
-
Delete the following things from the System Folder:
-
- Extensions:MetroNub (single file)
-
- Preferences:Metrowerks (entire folder)
1) Insert the CodeWarrior Pro 5 MacOS Tools CD:
-
Double click the installer ("Install CW").
-
Click ok/yes/accept/agree until you get to the Install CodeWarrior
Pro 5 Tools window.
1a) Click on (to run) the MRJ 2.1.2 Installer.
-
Click ok/yes/accept/agree until you get to the MRJ Installer
window.
-
The drive containing your System should already be selected
as the Destination.
(If not, repeatedly click on Switch Disk until the drive
holding your System is the Destination.)
-
Click Install. You might be asked if it is ok to quit all
other applications before proceeding.
(If so, click on Continue to proceed with the install.)
-
When it's done, go back to the installer window in step (1).
1b) Click on (to run) CW Pro 5 Java Tools Installer.
-
Click ok/yes/accept/agree until you get to the Pro 5 Java
Tools Installer window.
-
For simplicity, go ahead with the Full Java Install.
-
You may choose a drive and folder in which to place the CodeWarior
installation using the Install Location pop-up menu.
-
Click Install. You might be asked if it is ok to quit
all other applications before proceeding
(if so, click on Continue to proceed with the install.)
-
Restart the computer when the installer is done.
2) Download the CUCS stationery from one of the following
sites:
Download the file CW5MacExtras.sea.hqx.
If you cannot find the file, retrieve it from ftp://ftp.cs.cornell.edu/pub/cs100.
Netscape and Fetch should automatically DeBinHex this
and
possibly automatically launch the resulting self-extracting
archive (sea).
If necessary, double-click to launch the sea yourself.
Following these steps creates a new folder containing
the stationery and installation instructions. Follow the instructions.
Historical Notes:
-
Sometimes there are updates to be downloaded and applied.
(public labs: don't key the application until after applying
the updates!)
-
(public labs only) There used to be aliases to files and
it was crucial to make sure they survived and pointed
to the correct file when CodeWarrior was redistributed
from servers to individual lab machines.
