Graffiti (v 1.05) - a location aware application for wireless networks

Graffiti is a simple application which allows the user to leave notes for people at various locations on the Cornell campus. It is a research project which attempts to combine to areas of research in Human-Computer Interaction: social navigation and context-aware computing. I am particularly interested in finding out what kinds of notes people create, where they leave them, and who they leave them for.

Here are the slides from a presentation I recently did at the Conference on Universal Usability.

More information about our context-awareness research is available here.

About the "Not on the wireless network" error
If you see the error, "Not on the wireless network" and you're sure that you are on the wireless network, take out your (non-wireless) Ethernet card. For some reason on some computers having the Ethernet card in at the same time as the wireless card causes some sort of problem.

Special Note about Privacy:
Any notes you create are stored in a database which is accessible to researchers in the Human-Computer Interaction Group. However, your anonymity will be protected in any research reports through the use of pseudonyms.
