Technical Challenges - Styles Citation data and styles Convention in physics is to use a short-form style for citations, e.g. omit title of paper, standard abbreviations for journal titles, etc., providing relatively little data for database matching. Another challenge is the lack of consistency and legibility - to an automated process - of citations in unedited e-prints. A possible solution is to use a moderated bibliographic database, e.g. SLAC-SPIRES, to build and validate citation linking data and find identifiers for papers held in the archive. |
