Cover Graphic

The cover graphic for the 1994-1995 CS Department Annual Report was created by James Allan and Professor Gerry Salton's SMART group.

The figure depicts four automatically identified themes found by SMART in the text of four encyclopedia articles. The articles are represented in black by a span of paragraphs, paragraphs in a theme are highlighted in color, and the lines connecting paragraphs are automatically derived links between related paragraphs.
