A k-chain may be viewed as a vector, where each cell is viewed as a basis vector, and thus a k-chain is a linear combination of these vectors, with coefficients in G. This view enables us to use the properties of vectors and vector spaces in computing with k-chains. For instance, we may add two k-chains, or multiply a k-chain by a scalar in G.
