Computer Graphics - Is Seeing Believing?

We now have the ability to simulate the behavior of light, model our human perceptual system, and display images that are indistinguishable from the real environments.  This capability of virtual reality can be used for such wide ranging topics as pilot training, architectural design, medical surgery, military simulations and, of course, the entire entertainment industry.  With increasing computer power, visually startling simulations will occur on desktop machines in real time.  This lecture will discuss some of the basic principles and graphically show a wide variety of applications.
