Breaking news
May 3
- I'll hold on extra office hour on Wednesday at 11. I've also
posted solutions to HW11 (so solutions are available for all homeworks).
May 1
- Don't forget that the course final is next Thursday (a week from
today), 7-9:30 PM, in Upson B17 (that's in the basement of Upson).
The coverage of the final is in the notes for this week; you can
check it in this week's notes.
- There will be a review session on Monday (May 5) 3-5 (the preferred
time), in Phillips 219. Haden and Jong Hwi will be running it.
- Office hours go on essentially as usual next week, with a few minor
changes. Here is the current plan:
- Monday:
- 10-11 - Sara
- 1:30 - 2:30 - me (note my office hour moved back, to avoid the
review session)
- 3-5 - review session in Phillips 219 with Jong-Hwi and Haden (so
Sean's office hour is cancelled)
- Tuesday: office hours as usual
- 10:35 - 11:35 - Kevin
- 3-4 - Tian
- 4-5 - Sonica
- 7-8 - Scott
- Wednesday:
- 7 - 8 PM - Sean (new office hour; note Haden's office hour in the
morning is cancelled, but I may have an office hour then instead; stay tuned)
- Thursday:
- 10-12 - Haden (new extra long office hour!)
- 7-9:30 - final
If you have any exam conflicts, you must tell me by tomorrow
(Friday).
- There is a class tomorrow (despite Slope Day). I'll do fun stuff and
answer questions about the exam. You can pick up your homework any
time next week from either me or my admin, Cindy Robinson (who is in
Upson 4146).
- We'll be grading the exam on Monday, May 12. Grades should be
available by Tuesday; you can also pick up your exams then. (I'll
send an email announcement when they're available.) If you have
questions about the final, as usual, look at the solutions first. If
you still have questions after that, go to the grader first, but if
he/she is not available, you can ask me.
Good luck on your exams!
April 30
- Here is the prelim I gave in 2004
and its solution. The final was on the
difficult side. It didn't include graph theory (which this one will),
and included more probability than we covered this year. You can ignore
questions 9(d),(i),(j).
Feb. 28
- There will be a review session on Saturday, Feb. 23, from 3-4:30,
in Upson 109, led by Eric Frackleton.
- The prelim will begin at 7:45 (not 7:30) and will be in Olin 255
(not Hollister B14, as announced on the Cornell web site). There will
be a (free!) post-prelim pizza party hosted by the ACSU (Association of Computer
Science Undergrads) in Olin 145.
- There will be a makeup from 5:25 - 6:55 in a location to be
announced (which will be announced only to those who have told me that
they need a prelim).
Feb. 22
- Here is the prelim I gave in 2004
and its solution.
- There will be one or maybe even two review sesesions for the
prelim. When they will be depends in part on you. Come to class on
Monday to vote on it.
Feb. 14
Don't forget to make use of the newsgroups. If you
don't know how to use them, Haden has written a nice introduction, complete with screen shots.
Feb. 12
- Note that there have been slight changes in the Tuesday office
hours for Sonica Li and Tian Li (and there are new office hours with
Scott Rogoff)
- This week's homework is based on a handout on number theory from
Rosen. You have to come to class to get it or you can get it from Cindy
Robinson in Upson 4146.
